Recent Beauty Purchases- Small Sephora Haul

Hey y'all.

I bought some new makeup! Lol

I treated myself to some new lippies and a cookies and cream body butter.

Check out what I purchased below:

It's Skin Cookie and Body Ice Cream, Nars Velvet Lip Glide in "La Main Bleue, Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Palette (Promo perks: Fresh Lip Balm in "Nude" and Urban Decay Vice Liquid Lipstick in "Amulet") and I chose the Caudalie birthday gift.

It's Skin Cookie and Body Ice Cream, Nars Velvet Lip Glide in "La Main Bleue, Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Palette (Promo perks: Fresh Lip Balm in "Nude" and Urban Decay Vice Liquid Lipstick in "Amulet") and I chose the Caudalie birthday gift.

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Pallet
I've had my eyes on this particular lipstick palette for a while now.  I have so much makeup and lipsticks, but this peeked my interest because it's something a little different for my makeup collection. I'm excited to mix and match the different colors, and I figured this would be a fun palette to get creative with.  The quality of the lipsticks in this palette is on par with the other lipsticks in Urban Decay's Vice line.

Nars Velvet Lip Glide in "La Main Bleue"
Y'all already know this is my color.  Give me all the fuschia/magenta lippies. lol

Urban Decay Liquid Lipstick in "Amulet"
This was a pretty good promo perk, right?

It's Skin Cookie and Body Ice Cream
I'm pretty sure that there are actual cookie pieces in this body cream. It looks and smells exactly like cookies and cream ice cream, but surprisingly, the scent isn't at all overpowering.

Let me know what you think.

What Happened?

Hey y'all.

In this blog post, I want to share a little about what's been going on in my personal life. I NEVER write creatively or just for "fun," so I'm sure this is going to be a fairly inarticulate post. Lol

Here Goes........

My New Year's started off with a bang, LITERALLY!

At about 1:30a.m. on New Year's Day 2017, I was hit in my right eye with a firework. I'm not exactly sure what kind of firework it was, or who fired it, I just know that I was hit. It was truly a freak accident.

The Aftermath....

I lost vision in my right eye almost immediately after the accident. I went to the emergency room that night where I was treated for a small laceration on my right eyelid and sent home.

Thereafter, I visited several ophthalmologist and eye specialists to figure out the best course of treatment for the injured eye. I was first prescribed a variety of different eye drops which aided in decreasing the amount of swelling and blood inside of the eye. After a few weeks of taking the eye drops, I began to regain some vision in my right eye.

Once the swelling and blood disappeared, the doctors were able to get a better view of the injuries and made the following determinations:
  • The lens of the right eye was "wobbly"
  • The retina in the right eye was almost completely detached
  • A cataract had formed in the right eye because of the injury

Surgery and Ongoing Treatment....

At the end of January 2017, I had surgery to repair the above mentioned injuries. The surgery lasted approximately 6 hours, and it was a success. The cataract was removed, I received a lens implant, and my retina was reattached.

My vision did improve after surgery, but I still have a long way to go. I'm scheduled to have another corrective surgery in March of 2017.

To end, 2017 has been a challenging year for me thusfar, but I'm grateful. I have some amazing doctors and surgeons and I'm optimistic about future treatments. I also want to note that I haven't experienced any pain due to the injury, not even when it happened or after surgery. Anytime I did feel slight irritation, it wasn't anything that Tylenol couldn't control.

And most importantly, I'm ok! Throughout everything that has happened, I always knew that I was, and still am OK!

2 days after surgery
My glasses are not prescription lenses. They are just for protective purposes.

I also want to extend a special thanks to my mom, Aunt Peanot, Mr. Wiltz, Patrice, Erica, Danielle P, Datrian, and Charee for your encouraging words, and for being hopeful for me when I couldn't find hope. I cannot deny the effects of your prayers and positive energy.
