Review and Swatches: Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush

Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush in "Candy Coral"

This month Maybelline has launched several new products to kick off the start of 2012.  I decided to pick up the Dream Bouncy Blush that other Beauty Bloggers have been Raving about. (lol)

Maybelline's Dream Bouncy Blush is an oil-free, lightweight Blush. The formula contains a hybrid gel that that creates a Dense/Spongy feel.  It goes on like a cream, but wears like a powder.  This Blush is available in 10 shades that range from neutrals, to very bright pinks and corals.

I picked up Candy Coral which is a Bright Pinkish/Coral color.

My Thoughts:
It actually took a lot of experimenting with this Blush to make it wearable for me.  I know most people simply apply this Blush with their fingers because of the soft/spongy texture, but that didn't work for me at all.  When I tried applying it with only my fingers, I found it to be hard to blend, and it looked a little chalky.  After trying different techniques, I ended up finding it much easier to apply it with my Elf Synthetic Haired Taklon Powder Brush.

I also found that this shade was not the most flattering on MY particular skin tone. In my opinion, the Blush looks much more warm-toned in the packaging than it does on my skin.

These go on very Sheer, but (as you can see from the swatch) they can definitely be built up to give more intense pigmentation.

Overall, if you're looking for a lightweight, sheer blush, then you should definitely give this a try.  Personally though, I probably wouldn't repurchase these because I found the application to be quite messy because of the density of the blush.  I'd rather just have a cream OR a powder, NOT of a hybrid! (lol)

Let me know what you think.

Have you had a chance to try these yet?
How do you apply it?
